Movie Byte ... Les Invasions Barbares

I saw this movie yesterday on TV ... I've never heard of this film before ... and I really wasn't surprised that it won the Oscar for best foreign language movie back in 2004 ... exquisite movie ... once more showing that European cinema (European Canadian in this case) is WAY ahead of its American counterpart ...

A man in his last days is surrounded by his friends and family ... he and his friends are intellectual elites ... and his son was away ... it really holds a deep philosophical perspective throughout the whole movie ... and highlighted in the last minutes of the movie ... the discussion that took place in the last scenes about Politics and Sex is one of the best discussion I've ever heard in my life ...

I would definitely recommend seeing this movie ... I've just read that its part of a sequel ... preceded by Le Déclin de l'empire américain (The Decline of the American Empire [USA]) which received a Academy Award Nomination for the same category in 1986 ... and followed by L'Âge des ténèbres (The Age of Ignorance [International: English title]) which is Canada's Submission for the next Academy Awards and was released two months ago ... I know I'm gonna try my best to see them ...

Rating : 8.5/10

Jordan Byte ... The Rift with Qatar coming to a closure ?

There is no denying that the meeting between King Abdullah II of Jordan and the Prime minister of Qatar in Amman yesterday along with new directives to the Jordanian Government for further cooperation with Qatar could be seen as a sign to the looming end of the drift in relations between the two countries. Problems which surfaced through recent years were mainly caused by Aljazeerah controversial shows, The Hamas issue and Qataris voting agianst Prince Zaid bin Raa’d in the preliminarily elections for the post of UN Secretary General last year.

As the issue of the UN Secretary General subsided, the tone in Aljazeerah programs faded and the implications of Hamas’s riots in Gaza on international scene which made Qatar reconsider their position towards Hamas; observers can see a new dawn in the relationships between the two states where more efforts are needed to resolve more important issues in the regions such as Iraq and Iran.

This can be good news for a lot of Jordanians living in Qatar where it is rumored that they are not being treated equally as the rest of Arab residents, not failing to mention that it re-opens the doors for Qatari businessmen to invest in Jordan.

Music Byte ... Travis - Selfish Jean

Amazing video its so creative it hurts ... Fantastic song ... Don't you just LOOOOVE Travis ?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah ... Selfish Jean :)

Cheers
Thanks for everything
You hung me out by my heart
You're just so selfish jean
Yes you are

Hey you
Threw it all away
By holding everything in
Hey Jean don't rock the boat
When you can't swim

With a perfect understanding of the finer things in life
A quite alarming knack of knowing when to twist the knife
Oooooooooh
Selfish Jean

Here's to you
Who read everything
Left it out on the shelf
There's no one else to blame
Except yourself

Well a perfect combination of good etiquet and charm
You keep the chocolate biscuits wired to a car alarm
Oooooooooh
Selfish Jean

Well i'm standing on my own
And this house is not a home
It's so sad to see you go
Things are high, things are low
And it's good to know you know
If you've got nowhere to go
Well you could spend the night with me
There will be no guarantee that I'll be here

In the morning
Or any time that you call
I hear you snoring Jean
Through the wall

So hey
Here's to everything
To peace and love in our time
Ah Jean the slate is clean
I guess we're fine

Well I don't expect a miracle
Not asking you to change
If you can see me happy
Well just look the other way
Oooooooooh
Selfish Jean

Heeeaaaaaah
Selfish Jean

Jean
Oh yeah
Jean

Bloggiversary Byte ... 1

I sure agree ... that the day that the blog completed its first year was nothing short of strange ... I am writing this post in a practically empty blog ! It's weird coincidence ... but also is life ...

I don't tend to consider my blog as a separate entity ... it's an extension of me that can be seen by many others ... a terminal for the minds ... my own Hyde Park in some sort ...

I started blogging soon after I relocated to Saudi Arabia ... I had a lot of time on my hands and I was starting to be a regular visitor to some blogs ... I can't really remember which blogs or how exactly I ended up in the Jordanian blogosphere ... but that's what happened ...

Being a part of the Jordanian Bloggers community really added things to me ... a whole new method of interaction with like-minded (and sometimes not) individuals ... catching up with the cultural events that's happening around Amman ... feeling a connection towards home ... it all felt right ... and it still does ...

I have no intention to deny that blogging changed my life ... or at least my perspective of it ... and I am sure that i don't intend to leave the blogosphere soon ... in fact I think I'm going to increase my activity ... and actually blog every thought that i consider bloggable without backing out later due to laziness or lack of an Internet connection ...

In the end ... I would like to thank everyone who shared his thoughts with me ... you were , are and will be more than welcomed.

ps. Don't mind the bad template ... I was fixing it but I am out of time now ...

Peace !
